On August 11th, 2016, the hashtag "#SaveTwitter" began trending as users spread a rumor that the site was shutting down in 2017 due to poor financial standing and its issues with cyberbullying. Shortly after, an image of text that suggested @BradTheLadLong had caused Twitter to shut down in 2017 began circulating.
