The website contradancelinks.com publishes running schedules of dance events (both local dances and dance weekends) organized by state.  This snapshot shows that many locations in Ohio have vibrant and active dance communities sponsoring regular dance events.

Contra Dances as Cultural Events

Each individual performance of a dance is a real-life occurrence that "expresses" a particular work at a moment in space and time.  Interactives like timelines and maps offer the opportunity to travel through contra dance history as well as to situate contra dancing generally, and the performance of an individual dance specifically, within the context of local communities and global culture.  Event records apply modified cataloging rules to link occurrences to people, places, and media records acting as documentation of those happenings.
